Psalm CoverThe Psalm project has been something on my heart for many years.  To put the text of Psalm 119 to music.  I began writing around 2001 in Tasmania and 5 years later in Hamburg had the opportunity to finally play and perform 6 pieces.

The two tracks, "Rome" and "Eculiar Peeps", are different groove ideas that kind of connect to my earlier Eujesta recording, playing around with different rhythmic ideas.

Clint Campisi – Guitar
Sebastian Gille – Saxophone
Jakob Dreyer – Bass
Knud Fedderson – Drums

The tracks are:

  1. Pe
  2. Eculiar Peeps
  3. Teth
  4. Rome
  5. Nun
  6. Beth
  7. Gimel
  8. Samech

Eujesta was my first 'serious' band formed in my years at the Tasmanian Conservatorium of music in 2001.  It combines rocky riff type ideas with more jazz type ryhthm, kind of a fusion type album.  My influences at that time were John Scofield, Dave Weckl, Jaco Pastorius.....

Track 2  - Time Bomb
Track 5  - Egg Shells
Track 7  - Traffic Life
Track 9  - Shish Kebab

Eujesta are:

Clinton Campisi – Guitar
Dan Freeman – Saxophone
Corey Gilham – Bass
David Loney – Drums

‘Temple Place Jazz' is a compilation of Tasmanian jazz groups from early 2000.  The CD is a mixture of original tunes and standards with vocal, hammond B3, and horn sections recorded live in the Temple Place.

The Hamburg Hochschule Big Band, under the direction of Wolf Kerschek, is the perfect opportunity for exploring larger composition and arrangement ideas.

You can hear a version from my first Piece for Big Band: Colorin’ wind up device. Recorded in 2006

He is one of the first Psalms that I performed in an ensemble context.  I completed it for a performance with a ensemble from the Hamburg HfMT. Recorded June 2006.

In 1999 I met a really great violin player / conductor, Celeste Quinn. She lead the Tasmanian Youth Orcestra, and was also into the avant garde, crossover type movement, combining modern ideas, ie. Techno with Orchestra. She had heard Eujesta a few times and seemed keen to try out some similar stuff with String Quartet. I began arranging some ideas for string quartet and let her know. She then offered me a premiere performance opportunity before a Youth Orchestra concert of Bernstein’s ‘Westside Story’. The recording is the Premiere concert.

1st Movement Come on yeah’
2nd Movement Hollow tree

Celeste Quinn – Violin
Zachery Johnson – Violin
Verity Twydale – Viola
Nic Hempel – Cello

During my time at the Tasmanian Conservatorium of music, I was hangin out a bit with Nic Hempel, a cello player.  We played together a few times and tried out some ideas, I ended up writing a solo Cello piece for him.  The recording is also the Premiere performance. The name ‘Thumb’ is derived from rhythm, a lot of transformation ideas.
